Want to Play Poker Like Phil Ivey? it Might not be a Good Idea

Phil Ivey is arguably the greatest living poker player in the world right now. He has five World Series of Poker bracelets, reached a record eight World Poker Tour final tables and won two out of three of Full Tilt Poker’s Million Dollar Cash game against the best in the world. He won over $16 million dollars from Texas billionaire Andy Beal. As of this writing his has made more money playing online than any other player this year. Like Phil Ivey, Tiger Woods is the best at what he does and you could become a very great golfer yourself if you simply copied him. But with Phil Ivey, if you want to be the best you’re better off finding your own way.

Why? Phil Ivey is a maniac. As a matter of fact, of all the maniacs in poker he is the most maniacal. A maniac in poker is a very loose, very aggressive player both pre and post-flop. He plays a lot of hands and bluffs often. He is simultaneously the best and worst player to have at a table with you. When he has a big hand, he wins big time since nobody can get a good read on him. That’s what you see on TV, when Phil Ivey rakes in a $400k pot. That’s what everyone wants, but what you don’t see is the bad side of a maniac. Since a maniac is so loose many of the pots he enters, he is behind. Sometimes he catches, sometimes he doesn’t. Sometimes his bluffs work, sometimes they don’t. Smart players can take advantage of loose starting requirements and simply wait until they get a big hand. The craziness of your play makes you predictable and in the end costs you money. You may start off the night up big, but it’s very likely you could go home broke unless you change things up. You should always be paying attention to your table image, if people think you are a bluffer they won’t respect you. Make them pay by waiting for a big hand.

“At the end of the day you have to trust your instincts and play your own game – not someone else’s.” -Phil Ivey

Phil Ivey is a unique talent. He combines his maniac style with excellent hand reading and scary timing. He’s almost impossible to get a read on. If you want to be like Phil Ivey, don’t be a maniac. Know your game, know your opponents and most importantly never show weakness. Phil Ivey may be a maniac, but in the end it’s his opponents who go crazy trying to beat him.

Texas Holdem Explained

These two terms represent the same thing. They speak about the most popular class of poker games. When playing this game the players receive 2 cards (face down) and 5 community cards. They try to make the best hand possible with these cards and they can bet several times: after the first 2 cards are dealt, and then after the next 3, the 4th or 5th dealt cards. The used terms for this are: flop, turn and river. This poker game is very popular in the USA, where it is played mostly in casinos. The no-limit form has been used in the world poker championship (meaning World Series of Poker).

You can learn many Texas Hold’em secrets and other online poker secrets by simply searching the Internet, reading articles and playing online poker with unknown players. You can earn experience and start believing in yourself and your win, but you should definitely know some things (poker secrets) before risking to lose money with beginner poker.

What should you do to rise from a poker beginner to a professional?

-To maximize your winning chances you have to choose a good table, proper to your level of expertise (preferably beneath your level so you may take advantage of other people’s weaknesses). However, do not forget that many know online poker secrets and they might take advantage of you. Beware of poker cheats! Have in mind the information available about the other players: the average pot size, their speed (hands per hour) and how much they are willing to play (some poor players throw away their money and play a lot while others are very good players and don’t throw themselves easily).

-Place other good poker players to your right side at the table so you can act after they do first. Try to benefit from the other players who like to raise the stake without having a back up. Place these last players to your left. It is very important to pay attention to online poker players!

-Don’t let yourself caught up in the game and learn to leave the table at the proper moment. This is a very important online poker secret. Sometimes the atmosphere at table changes and the Texas Hold’em game is no longer profitable for you. New players arrive and they are not as tensed as you and the old players. Getting carried away will make you loose.

Let’s Play Final Fantasy VIII #011 – Warring Triad

Hmm… How can I describe this episode without spoiling the plot? In this episode, after the “survivors” barely escape a near-death experience, we return home to relax… with GAMBLING! Special thanks to Sister’s Card Game FAQ on GameFAQs. It saved me immense time in coordinating everything together with Triple Triad. tinyurl.com Just so you know, I’m not going to demonstrate so many card games in the future; only enough to get rare cards, so you can see that you can indeed get said rare card from that individual. I’ll go over more of the complicated rules of the game as they present themselves. Here are some random Level 1-5 cards I’m going to try to pick up as I go along for Card Mod. For this LP, they will be primarily used for learning Quistis’ Blue Magic, upgrading Squall’s weapons to unlock new limit breaks, and to get AP Ammo, which you’ll want to get as many of those cards as possible*. If you don’t get the cards for upgrading Squall’s weapons, don’t worry about it. I’m simply doing it for the sake of completion. There’s no need to grind for these, as there will be plenty of games to do so as we’re getting rare cards. As part of my philosophy to avoid grinding, I’m not going to pursue anything that requires 10+ cards to get, except for one card. Card List 1 Caterchipillar (Ultra Waves, if not procured yet) 1 Gesper (Degenerator) 1 Gayla (Acid) 4 Geezard (Shear Trigger, Flame Saber, Punishment) 1 Creeps (Electrocute) Grand Mantis* (AP Ammo) Tonberry* (Punishment

Why Its so Popular to Play Holdem Poker

Why is playing holdem poker so popular today? Most experts agree that the game Texas Holdem owes its popularity to the television series, The World Series of Poker, that rose from its humble beginnings during the 1960s to be one of the top-rated entertainment programs of the 2000s.

Whatever the reason, Holdem poker is enjoying a wave of popularity. Low-stakes (and high stakes) betting on poker is considered socially acceptable, as home games have sprung up all over cities and suburbs.

In areas where gambling is legal, like Las Vegas, Reno, Atlantic City, and many Indian owned casinos, the poker rooms are the busiest place on the casino floor, with tables full of gamblers playing Holdem poker around the clock.

How The Game Is Played

Ideally, players are seated at a table for ten with one dealer. The two players immediately left of the dealer ante up for the whole table. They are called the “blinds” because they bet “blind” – i.e., without seeing any cards.

Each player is then dealt two cards face-down; this is the player’s hand. Each player places a bet, raises a bet, or folds, depending on the strength of their hands. The top 10 hands in poker are Ace King, Ace Queen, and pairs of cards, Ace high to seven low, known as “pocket pairs” because only the player can see them.

A player in holdem poker who is dealt any of these hands should bet and raise from a position of strength, to see who else at the table has a strong hand.

Next, the community cards are dealt, face-up, one at a time. Individuals with hands still in play can check, bet, raise, or fold, based on whether their hand was helped or harmed by the community cards.

Some tables impose a betting limit on these bets and raises. At “no limit” tables, players can go “all in,” creating some of the most exciting and dramatic moments in holdem poker play.

Top Ten Hands

The ranking of the top ten hands is as follows:

1st ……  A A
2nd …… A K
3rd ……. K K
4th ……. Q Q
5th …….. J J
6th ……. A Q
7th ……..10 10
8th …….. 9 9
9th …….. 8 8
10th ……. 7 7

A player with pocket sevens, obviously, risks being beat by any of the other top hands. A player who raises the pocket-seven bet may well have a top ten hand, or could be bluffing, or could be an inexperienced player who doesn’t know what he or she is doing.

It is this element of being able to “read” the other players at the table that raises holdem poker play from a game of sheer luck to a game that combines luck with skill, psychology, and intuition.
